Eddie is a young boy who is not interested in learning history. That is until his teacher gives him a magical subway token that enables Eddie to time travel back to the 1930s where he learns that history is not just dull dates on a page, but rather, the people and events that color our lives. The illustrations are beautiful paintings that bring the characters and settings into vivid focus.
About the Author: Jane Kendall is the author of the critically acclaimed young adult historical novel Miranda and the Movies (Crown, 1989), which grew out of her passion for silent film history and the desire to share the era with a young audience. The book was a Junior Library Guild selection for Advanced Readers and a Notable Social Studies book; in 1999 Harcourt Brace reissued it and published the sequel, Miranda Goes to Hollywood. Ms. Kendall is also an illustrator with over two dozen children’s books to her credit, including The Nutcracker: A Ballet Cut-out Book (David R. Godine, 1985) which was featured in the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Christmas catalogue. She is a Senior Writer for Greenwich Magazine and since 1993 has written more than 75 feature articles for the magazine. She has written about silent film history for The New York Times, and has been a fashion and social history columnist for the Brooks and Gannet newspaper chains. Although Ms. Kendall lives in Cos Cob, Connecticut (where she collects—and wears—vintage hats), she was born in Manhattan, and her lifelong fascination with the city’s rich history was the inspiration for All in Good Time.
About the Illustrator: Alexandra Tebow was born in Palo Alto, CA. She became a Girl Scout in first grade and became a Lifetime Member at the age of 18 when she also achieved the Girl Scout Gold Award. Her project was a mural painting program at her high school to help combat graffiti. After high school she became a Council Trainer for San Francisco Bay Girl Scout Council specializing in training new Girl Scout leaders in Advanced Arts & Crafts and beginning camping skills. At Ohlone College in Fremont, CA, she studied Fine Art and photography and fell in love with art history. Later she entered the Academy of Art University in San Francisco where she completed her degree in Illustration/2D Animation. Her love of art history still influences her work.
